Nationals News

Kansas City is very excited to welcome the best figure skaters from across the United States as they compete at the 2017 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships January 14-22 at Sprint Center and Silverstein Eye Center Arena -- home of the Heartland Figure Skating Club!

In addition to determining the U.S. champions, the event serves as the final step in determining the U.S. teams for the World Figure Skating Championships, World Junior Figure Skating Championships, Four Continents Figure Skating Championships and Olympic Winter Games.

Congratulations to Heartland FSC skaters who were selected for sweeper, presenter, and the opening ceremony.  We are so PROUD and know you will do a great job representing HFSC!

Hometown Athletes

U.S. champions Ryan Bradley (left) and John Coughlin (right) will serve as honorary co-chairs for the 2017 U.S. Championships. Bradley, originally from St. Joseph, and Coughlin, from Kansas City, relocated to Colorado Springs to train, but grew up and have family and friends in the area.

Bradley is the 2011 U.S. champion and currently coaches, performs in skating shows and commentates figure skating for icenetwork and Universal HD.

Coughlin, whose father is a member of the Kansas City Police Department, is a two-time U.S. pairs champion. He won his first title in 2011 with Caitlin Yankowskas and his second the following year with Caydee Denney. Denney and Coughlin last competed in 2014 and currently skate in shows together. Like Bradley, Coughlin coaches and commentates for icenetwork.
